Very Green! The developer, a local resident and not an heiress with numerous homes as others have cast her, has recently been featured in Healthy Living Magazine regarding her pioneering efforts in the Green Hospitality Industry. Her other Hotel, the Ambrose in Santa Monica has garnered many awards for it's continuing sustainability practices, and is seeking an even higher LEED rating than constructed with. The developer also sits on the board of Global Green, as well as numerous other national boards concerning the affects of Global Warming. In contrast to her merits, the Palihouse hotel that seems supported by the Ray opponents, is a chain of three hotels, as well as the Customs Hotel in Westchester, slated to open in October. The Palihouse will include a market, bar and restaurant on site as well. Compare their West Hollywood and Hollywood projects, as well as the Sail House Lofts on Main Street (developed by the Palihouse owners) with the Ambrose Hotel (if you haven't been there yet you should to see how non-sunset strip it is) and tell me who is more capable of designing a project better suited for this community.

I love this project!

Your information is slightly exaggerated. If you've been going to the VNC meetings you know that there is one bar for the restaurant and one for the lobby, not three bars. A day spa you refer to is actually a couple of massage rooms and steam rooms for guests. The building is no more out of scale with the neighborhood than the Dog Town Lofts, the Chiat day building, the Renaissance building, or even the Abbot Lofts. And when did the developer state that he/she would stand for overflow valet parking in the neighborhood?

Interesting comments coming from the developer. If there are any actual neighbors out there who would like to chime in (not anonymously), we would love to hear from you.

As for the comment that there will only be one bar, this isn't actually true. There is one "official" bar listed in the findings, but according to the developer's own architect, there will be three "bar areas" - the restaraunt, the pool, and the lobby.
Also, the project as proposed would dwarf the dogtown lofts and Chiat/Day building. It would however, be comparable in scale with the "Clown" building on Main Street - which predates the Venice Specific Plan.

Nope. Not the developer. Local gal who has lived here for over 13 years, has followed this from the get go by attending the first community outreach and grass roots meetings, does her due diligence and chooses to remain anonymous. I have always appreciated your concern for the neighborhood, and while I too am not crazy about the current parking situation on Abbot Kinney, I must take pause with the war you have declared on this.
